Dr. Flanagan is married and has two young boys who provide amusing examples for her classes. In addition to hanging out with her family she enjoys running, reading, and cooking. As a clinician, she currently supervises students who are providing therapy and psychological assessment for children at Timothy Christian School and at Heartland Counseling Center, part of the Center for Rural Psychology.

Dr. Flanagan's areas of interest and research include: developmental psychopathology, social development, peer relationships, and school-based mental health. She has published articles in Journal of Clinical Child and Adolescent Psychology, Journal of Abnormal Child Psychology, Journal of Psychology and Christianity, and Social Development. She teaches Cognitive-Behavioral Theory
and Practice, Child and Adolescent Development and Treatment, Developmental Psychopathology, Child Assessment, and a practicum seminar group.
